THE WISDOM OF THE UPANISHADS
by Bhupendra Vora
speaker The Upanishads are a repository of ancient spiritual wisdom. The sages who compiled them were totally free from egotism and therefore had no wish to immortalise their names. The writers of most Upanishads remain nameless. These sages were enlightened beings, who were keen observers of the processes of nature and reflected deeply on metaphysical concepts. The Upanishads consequently provide a holistic view of the subjective and objective aspects of Reality. The Vedas contend that behind this world of name and form is an underlying Reality, that is unchanging, immutable and eternal. The workshop will seek to explore some fundamental teachings of the Upanishads and their relevance to our present times.

Bhupendra Vora is a former General Secretary of the Theosophical Society in East and Central Africa. He is author of a book entitled Healing the Planet.

Arranged by The Theosophical Society in England. £15, £10 concessions, £7 members of the Theosophical Society

GURDJIEFF’S FOURTH WAY & THE MASTERS OF THE WISDOM
by Joseph McKeaney
At the beginning of the 20th century an unusually powerful man called G. I. Gurdjieff brought a unique esoteric teaching to the West. Gurdjieff introduced a ‘Way’ which he said originated in pre-pharonic Egypt; a teaching capable of transforming Being in a man or woman. He called it 'The Fourth Way'. This workshop will cover key elements of the Fourth Way teaching and Gurdjieff’s mission to the West. We will consider conditioning and social programming in modern man; examine Man's true inner-psychology.
(Essence, Personality and The False-Ego) and outline the four powers of the Sphinx or 'the four powers of Essence in Man’. The day will also focus on Cosmic laws governing man's life on Earth and The Principle of Knowledge & Being. The day will open with a dynamic group meditation, to connect all present in the spirit of friendship, learning and harmony.

Joseph McKeaney is a fully qualified holistic therapist and counselor, with many years experience as a workshop facilitator in Britain and abroad.

Arranged by The Theosophical Society in England. £15, £10 concessions, £7 members of the Theosophical Society

SOULMATES: A DREAM COME TRUE OR YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE?
by Judy Hall
speaker Many people are looking for their soul mate and expect to be blissfully happy when they find one. But, sadly, they seem doomed to disappointment. So why are some soul mate relationships such a trial? Your soul mate is rarely someone new to you and your birth charts map the connections. Past life relationships can carry over into the present life and give rise to a soul mate experience that scours our soul - also shown in the interaction between charts. Drawing on 35 years experience as a regression therapist and karmic counsellor, Judy Hall will explore - in this workshop - contracts, karmic conundrums and unfinished business that lie behind many soul mate experiences and will help us to understand why our soul mate may be an invaluable tool in our karmic learning. It will also introduce a true companion of the heart - a twin flame (a soul mate without the karma). Please bring birth charts on acetate. Suitable for beginners and experienced astrologers alike.

Arranged by The Theosophical Society in England. £15, £10 concessions, £7 members of the Theosophical Society

THE MYSTERY OF ME
by Derek Thorne
speaker What is this thing we call me? It seems so familiar but can it be defined. The only point of reference we know is our thoughts, feelings, sensations and perceptions but to whom are they occurring, who knows these things? This question is the most ancient and pressing of all. Enquiring deeply into it leads to the realisation of our true essential and spiritual nature. The art of Jnana Yoga provides a direct and compelling path. Derek Thorne will convey this instruction and provide a rare opportunity to hear and receive authentic and powerful teaching.

Derek Thorne is a teacher trainer for the British Wheel of Yoga and is spiritual director of the YogaLiving Community ashram.

Arranged by The Theosophical Society in England. £15, £10 concessions, £7 members of the Theosophical Society
