The legends that inspired this hymn, Jerusalem, offer a key to understanding Albion as an angel to announce the English speaking people’s mission to the world.
Joseph MacDermott began his interest in things esoteric when he spent six years in a monastic community in the 1960s and the many years since have fed this passion.

This presentation will consider the relationship between love and consciousness at all levels of manifestation and in terms of fire, motion and the Seven Rays. Conscience can be interpreted as "with science", and to live one’s life with the conscience of love is to live in accordance with "an intuitive knowledge of the higher laws of the solar system".

We trace symbolism of the dragon through the millennia – from its earliest appearance in Babylonian, Greek and Norse myths, through the Dark Ages and medieval folklore involving both saintly and heroic dragon slayers and ending with present day use of the symbol in such films as Harry Potter and other popular culture. The talk also discusses the importance of dragon symbolism in alchemy (including the ouroboros as depicted in the Theosophical Society's Great Seal) and heraldry.

We’re led to believe that the Sphinx was built, just over 4,000 years ago, by the son of the pharaoh Khufu for his own mortuary temple. But pyramids were not intended as tombs and as orthodoxy ignores the mystic metaphor and allegory on which Egyptian culture is based, it’s hardly surprising the real nature and significance of the Sphinx is misunderstood. This talk focuses on current orthodoxy while explaining the esoteric rationale behind the Sphinx symbolism and the story told on the stela in front of it.
